You can help prevent fires at solid waste facilities. Keep lithium and rechargeable batteries out of your garbage and recycling carts, and drop them off for proper disposal, instead.
How to Recycle
Recycle your rechargeable or lithium batteries — those often found inside electronics such as laptops and cell phones — at the Electronic Recovery Center. No charge and no appointment necessary for Scott & Rock Island County residents! Alkaline (non-rechargeable) batteries are considered trash and can be thrown away.
Watch the video below to see how to drop off e-waste materials and batteries at the Electronics Recovery Center.
The Waste Commission of Scott County also operates three after-hours household battery recycling dropboxes:
- 5640 Carey Avenue Recycling Drop-Off
- Scott County Park Recycling Drop-Off
- West Lake Park Recycling Drop-Off
